An attempt to estimate porosity and permeability in demonstration of outline survey using rock physics techniques

Abstract We tried to estimate 2-D distributions of porosity and permeability using results of seismic survey, VSP logging data and core data. A good relationship between porosity and acoustic impedance is well known to use rock physics model, so that we could estimate 2-D porosity distribution from acoustic impedance which was obtained from seismic inversion analysis for seismic survey. Meanwhile, permeability is not unique relation with porosity. Therefore, some other information is needed to estimate permeability from seismic survey. In this study we used specific surface from core experiments in laboratory. We could estimate round 2-D permeability distribution.
