Microseismic data analysis using reflected waves at Aneth CO2 sequestration test site based on single-well three-component array observation

Abstract
We have studied a methodology to improve reliability of AE source location for CO2 geo sequestration by using data sets from the Aneth test field. Firstly, we verified the preliminarily AE source location by detailed wave observation and ray tracing modeling considering refraction phenomena. Refraction arrivals contaminate P wave arrivals, and AE depths get to be ambiguous. We use reflected waves detected by the R*Z analysis for AE sources re-location as a depth correction. The 55 high energy AE sources were re-located to a deeper layer, which gives possible natural interpretation associating with newly injection of salt waste disposal water at the field.
