| Abstract | The precise understanding of the water and solute transport in a vadose zone are quite important in environmental science and engineering but are difficult due to the lack of proper monitoring techniques. In this study, we suggested a new monitoring technique for water content and electrical conductivity of soil solution in sand gravel layer, in which it is hard to monitor water and solute transport by conventional monitoring methods, using a small ground penetrating radar system. We confirmed that our technique is applicable not only to laboratory experiments, but also to the field monitoring. The technique could be an unprecedented in-situ monitoring technique of water and solute transport in sand gravel layers. |
