Electromagnetic Scattering from a Dihedral Target with Dielectric Material

Abstract
A scattering mechanism of dihedral made of dielectric material is discussed in this paper. Most of buildings are modeled as dihedral structures because there is double bounce scattering between the ground and walls of buildings. But buildings have more complex scattering mechanism than dihedral corner reflector due to dielectric material. In order to investigate the scattering mechanism of a dihedral made of dielectric material, we measured bricks standing on the ground with polarimetric Ground-Based SAR system. We found that HH component is stronger than VV component. This phenomenon can be explained by Fresnel equation. And we also found that HV component appears side of bricks. We guess that it is caused by azimuth angle dependency of dihedral structures.
