Retrieval of Greens function from cross-correlation function of random fields by using spectral decomposition of linear operator, No.2

Abstract The Green function can be retrieved under a certain condition by the seismic interferometry technique. By using spectral decomposition of linear operator for a seismic wave equation, we study on conditions for retrieval of Green function from cross-correlation function of random fields. Since the spectral decomposition of linear operator is general theory, it is possible to adopt the seismic wave field under general conditions. We show that the Green function can be retrieved from cross-correlation function for generally heterogeneous elastic media without attenuation if the wave field is random.
