A new decomposition applied to azimuthally inclined objects for a polarimetric SAR image

Abstract
We developed a new algorithm, based on the three-component decomposition, which takes azimuthally inclined objects into consideration. In general, a scattering matrix of a target changes with the change of azimuth inclination. As a result, the same targets with the different azimuth inclination look different in a polarimetric SAR image. In order to avoid it, the polarization orientation angle is introduced to describe the scattering matrix so that the azimuth inclination can be partially compensated by the rotation of the scattering matrix. It is shown that the new method can decompose scattering matrices into their corresponding scattering processes correctly.
