Coherency measure analysis of multi-offset GPR data

Abstract
Velocity spectrum is a useful method which can estimate the velocity from multi-offset dataset robustly. In this paper, we investigated on four coherence measures using amplitude and analytical signal respectively. We applied these coherence measures to field ground penetrating radar datasets collected on a road pavement. Comparing the velocity spectrums calculated from amplitude and analytical signal, we found that analytical signal can benefit the interpretation and localization of reflection event at the expense of reducing resolution. Another comparison between unnormalized coherence measures and normalized coherence measures showed that normalized coherence measures can present deeper reflection events. From the velocity spectrums, the dielectric constant and thickness of asphalt layer can be accurately estimated.
