Subsurface visualization by using bistatic type ground penetrating radar

Abstract
A bistatic GPR system is proposed with an aim of a subsurface visualization without a ground reflection and a direct wave. A location of a transmitting antenna can be arbitrarily adjusted in this system. Therefore, an incident angle can be set as Brewster angle to reduce the ground reflection. Besides, Frequency - Spatial frequency domain filter which automatically works from a position information of the transmitting and a receiving antennas is applied to suppress the direct wave. Then, three - dimensional subsurface image is reconstructed with a migration technique. A laboratory experiment demonstrates an imaging capability of a landmine model with a depth of 10cm with the proposed system.
