| | Abstract | | Quality factor is an important physical property of rock. Some research has been published concerning the estimation of Q from borehole data. But quality factor from surface reflection data is rarely taken. In our previous study we estimated Q from 2D seismic reflection data acquired at Nankai Trough in Japan using Q-versus offset method to analyze attenuation properties in methane hydrate bearing sediments. It showed seismic attenuation is related with the existent of methane hydrate concentration zone or a free gas layer above it. In this study, we compared interval attenuation with interval velocity in methane hydrate bearing sediments. |
