Validity study of over/under seismic acquisition technique by R/V Kairei

Abstract
The over/under seismic acquisition is a de-ghost technique which separate up-going and down-going wave-fields with receivers towed at variable depth. According to recent development of streamer-control-technique, the over/under acquisition is going to be practical in oil/gas exploration industry. The biggest advantage of this technique is recovering the lost frequencies caused by the ghost effect, which improves the imaging resolution and depths. This is very valuable for scientific study to image multi-scale geological objects typified by seismogenic zone. In order to verify the effectiveness of this technique, we acquired over/under seismic data at Toyama trough by R/V Kairei which shot twice on a same line with towing single streamer at different depth.
