Seismic reflection surveys at Horonobe coastal area

Abstract
A coastal area is one of the proposed sites for radioactive waste disposal facilities construction, and it is very important to understand the underground structure and environment of sedimentation of a coastal area, when considering a groundwater flow. Moreover, although the seabed of the shallow sea region is listed as a proposed site for disposal site construction, however, such an area tends to be a blank region of geophysical data because of the difficulties of data acquisition both from land and marine. To fill up such a blank region, development of data acquisition technology is required. This research is regarded as preliminary research of the land-and-marine integrated seismic reflection survey of a shallow sea region. We carried out a P-wave and a S-wave-shallow seismic reflection surveys and clarified underground structure of the coastal area.
