The adaptive techniques for magnetoterullic survey in the area dominating coherent noise. -1- A technique for the stacking method of the magnetoterullic spectrum data utilizing the property of power spectrum against the noise

Abstract
We proposed a practical method for stacking of the power spectrum acquired by far remote reference magnetotellurics as an adaptive technique against the data degraded by strong coherent noise. Weighted stacking is to reduce the noise using spectrum matrixes acquired by far remote referenced magnetotelluric. As the weight to be utilized, we focused on the property of the averaged auto- and cross-power spectrum against the local noise. As the noise is dominated, the ratio of the cross to auto power spectrum is decreased. The weighted stacking method utilizing the property can decrease the effect of degraded data by strong noise, because the property is also applicable to the strong coherent noise. In the paper, we showed the validity of the method using synthetic MT source signal with CSMT signal liken to noise from a DC train which is representative of the coherent noise.
