Development of a small MT equipment for monitoring survey


Abstract
A lot of equipments to cover a survey area are necessary for long-term monitoring of behavior of resource fluids, such as petroleum or geothermal fluid, with high accuracy. Using low-cost equipments is effective to reduce total survey cost during the long-term monitoring survey. A low-cost and stand-alone small MT equipment has been developed using sensitive tri-axial MI sensors. As a result of field tests of the developed equipment together with a common data logger, the developed MT equipment could observe electromagnetic field variations in Extremely Low Frequency band caused by Schumann resonance. The small MT equipment will be improved its performance for practical use by protecting its measuring circuits from electrical noise and by AD conversion with higher sampling rate.
