Estimation of macroscopic vibration characteristics of composite ground using surface wave exploration based on homogenization method

Abstract
To improve the strength of ground as well as structure foundation, we usually deploy foundation piles for soft ground. As an estimation method of macroscopic characteristics for the composite ground, homogenization method is known. In this study, we simulated surface wave on the composite ground by finite-difference method and applied surface wave exploration to the simulated data. Then, we reviewed the result of surface wave analysis by homogenized model. As a result, it is concluded that surface waves describe macroscopic vibration characteristics properly and we can treat composite ground model as a homogeneous medium for wavelength more than twice as long as micro-scale. Moreover, since the homogenized model was anisotropic medium, we investigated the influence of anisotropic elastic medium on the surface wave dispersion.
