Acoustic survey in the Uwa Sea, southwest Japan

Abstract
Earthquakes in the sea areas where the existence of the active faults has not been recognized enough occurred one after another in recent years. These earthquakes require detailed active fault surveys by the latest methods in the sea areas. The Uwa Sea is located in the southern parts, Outer Zone hereafter, from the Median Tectonic Line in southwest Japan. There are no remarkable active faults in the Outer Zone, but a few active faults have been presumed. To clarify whether active faults distribute, we conducted an active fault survey using various types of acoustic sources in the Uwa Sea.
