An oil leak detection system for marine hose using electrical resistivity method

Abstract
Marine crude oil hoses are important equipment parts for the transportation of oil between oil tankers and mooring facilities. Generally, a marine hose is changed to new one every five or ten years to prevent oil leak by its deterioration. It is very important to develop an in-situ oil leak detection system for preventing marine pollution by leaked oil for marine environment. As results of some experiments, it is possible to detect oil leak of marine hoses by electrical resistivity method. Especially, the adjusted impedance bridge is very effective to detect oil leak of them by the rate of change in resistivity.
