Sensitivity study of Marine MT method

Abstract
In this study, we simulated the marine magnetotelluric responses. The results show that it is difficult to acquire information about the presence of an oil deposit from only apparent resistivity and phase. However, we can consider the tipper in the case of 3D structure. Tipper is a parameter which shows the connection between the horizontal and the vertical component of the magnetic field. Tipper is useful for detecting an oil deposit because it reacts clearly on the boundary of an oil deposit. And we could acquire the information about salt dome with good sensitivity. So we think that marine magnetotelluric method is useful for oil exploration as an complemental method..
