Combined interpretation of seismic velocity and electrical conductivity using the bimodal mixture model


Abstract
In our previous studies, we investigated the relationship among compressional modulus, porosity, and clay content by using the bimodal grain mixture model, and expanded the bimodal grain mixture model to estimate porosity and clay content from electrical conductivity.In this study, we have made combined interpretation of seismic velocity and electrical conductivity using the bimodal grain mixture model. We have applied this approach to geophysical logging data in soft sedimentary layers in Horonobe, Japan, and successfully estimated porosity, clay content, and equivalent NaCl concentration.
