Electromagnetic survey in coastal area at Horonobe in Hokkaido 3 -Study on interpretation of the resistivity section using rock physics.

Abstract
For the radioactive waste repository, it is important to estimate spatial distribution of saline/fresh water boundary to evaluate long term geological stability. This paper reports a trial to evaluate spatial distribution of the equivalent NaCl concentration of pore water from resistivity profiling obtained MT survey in coastal area at Horonobe in Hokkaido, Japan. Archies law was applied to obtain pore water resistivity. Porosity distribution was estimated from geological interpretation, logging results and compaction trends.
