Development of standard vibrator for vibration test of wooden house.

Abstract
We developed a compact vibrator with revolving mass for vibration test to investigate the vibration characteristics in residential environment of houses. The vibrator produces sweeping frequency and shakes wooden houses in order to acquire data on the characteristics as well as information that can be utilized to improve the accuracy of the evaluation of vibration in a house. This report includes the results of functional assessment of the vibrator as the source of vibration based upon data collected with this device. It also reports the results of shaking experiments, which apply excitation force on ground surface to shake the conventional houses. Compared with the micro tremor data used in the evaluations of anti-quake and vibration features, it was shown that the vibration data from the new device had favorable S/N ratio from the results. It is able to conclude that the new vibrator contributes to acquire more detailed data on the vibration characteristics in a house than ever.
