3D gravity basement structure of Kojima reclaimed land of Okayama plain, southwest Japan, and its relation to earthquake damage distribution

Abstract Precise gravity measurements were conducted to obtain a 3D structural model of basement. The structural features of the obtained model were compared to the damage distribution caused by the 1946 Nankai earthquake, and then it was found that there was a close spatial correlation between the basement rock topography and the heavily damaged zones.
