Application of electrical resistivity tomography to ground subsidence survey at the abandoned mine area

Abstract
In this study, we conducted electrical resistivity tomography to ground subsidence survey at the abandoned mine area. The field site was distributed limestone cavities and pits of the old coal mine which is composed of sedimentary rocks of the Paleozoic. First, the boring was carried out in the ground subsidence area and the electrical cables were installed into boreholes to perform resistivity tomography between two boreholes. The electrical resistivity tomography has shown that the zones of low resistivity correspond to the zones of the cavities identified in the boreholes at the field site. From these results, the electrical resistivity tomography method used is very effective to detect underground cavities for ground subsidence survey.
