Simulation of methane hydrate survey using marine resistivity method

Abstract
Methane hydrate is expected to be domestic energy resource for the next generation. In most cases seismic method is used for methane hydrate survey. Although seismic method is effective to detect the lower boundary of methane hydrate layer, it is difficult to detect the upper boundary and thickness of methane hydrate layer. In resent years marine resistivity method is often investigated for methane hydrate survey. We have developed simulation programs for marine resistivity method in order to detect the upper boundary and the thickness of methane hydrate layer. The result of forward modeling and inversion will be presented with some examples.
