Numerical experiment on arrangement of 2-d resistivity survey lines for 3-D inversion

Abstract
To estimate effective electrode and survey line arrays of 2-D resistivity survey lines for 3-D inversion, numerical experiments of 3-D inversion were conducted by three kinds of the electrode array and two types of the 2-D survey line array on six-teen resistivity models. The parallel survey lines analyzed the location of the resistivity anomaly and reduced the error of inversed resistivity globally. The orthogonal survey lines reduced the error of inversed resistivity mostly in the region surrounded by the lines connecting the end of survey lines. From these results, if the location of the object is unknown, it is effective to use parallel survey lines first and to use orthogonal survey lines secondly at the location estimated from the inversion with parallel survey lines.
