An application of a walk-away VSP survey in a granite area

Abstract
For high resolution imaging of an underground structure, a walk-away VSP is applied with a seismic reflection method. A walk-away VSP survey was conducted in Hanawa town where is granitic area and is located near Tanakura tectonic line, in Fukushima prefecture. In the VSP survey, we set 53 shot points on both side of the well, and operated JMI-400 oil pressure impactor and Hydorophone. Datasets of a walk-away VSP and a conventional seismic reflection method were acquired simultaneously. In the processed shot gathers and stacked sections, we recognize some events corresponding to fractures and boundaries of weathering in the granite.
