Shallow subsurface structure in the Kazo lowland and Arakawa lowland, central Kanto plain

Abstract
Seismic reflection surveys were carried out in the Kazo lowland and between the Arakawa lowland and the Omiya upland, in the Kanto plain and high resolution seismic sections 6.3 km and 5.3 km long were obtained, respectively. Many continuous reflectors are detected between several ten meters and 1 km in depth and discontinuous reflectors are imaged in places below 1km in the both sections. In the Kazo lowland, neither deformation nor gap of reflectors are perceived around the inferred Kuki fault in the seismic section. Between the Arakawa fault and the Omiya upland, a syncline is detected and it is considered active because of cumulative deformation of reflectors.
