Development of data logger with use of high precision digital MEMS accelerometer


Abstract
We have developed a data logger system with use of high precision digital MEMS accelerometer. The employed MEMS sensor is same as the one used in the seismic telemetry recording system for oil exploration and it has characteristics of low noise, high sensitivity and broad dynamic range. The system consists of 3C MEMS sensor unit and logger unit. The logger unit includes GPS receiver as well as 16 bit MPU board and controls the sampling clock of MEMS sensor to be synchronized with GPS precise clock. The acquired data is stored with time stamp in CF memory. The system is easy to expand functions and suitable for long time continuous seismic recording such as natural earthquake observation.
