A Study for hydraulic property estimation using elastic wave velocity dispersion - A case study in fractured rock -

Abstract
This paper presents a practical method to generate a hydraulic conductivity image using seismic tomography performed for different frequency sources. Using the geostatistical distribution of velocity difference in various frequencies and the relation with known hydraulic conductivity values, stochastic simulations of the hydraulic conductivity image are generated. In order to verify the validity of these theories, two kinds of cross-hole tomography measurements have been carried out. The results of in-situ experiments show that the presented empirical method to determine the hydraulic conductivity image can be applied in crystalline rock.
