| Abstract | Exploration for the internal structure of river embankment for its maintenance must be demanded nondestructively and accurately. We investigated the application of the FM-CW GPR to the river embankment exploration at Yamashina and Uji rivers, Kyoto, Japan. A longitudinal profile of 200m lngth, two cross line profiles and CMP gathers of 50m interval were acquired at Yamashina river embankment. The electromagnetic wave velocities were transformed to the volumetric water content using the Topps equation. The results were consistent with the soil research and electric survey. Longitudinal profile of 500m lngth and three dimensional data of 40m interval were acquired at Uji river embankment. We could delineate the internal structure of the river embankment, which was consistent with the cross section by open cutting work. |
