| Abstract | Previous study shows constant clay model is convenient to estimate velocity-porosity relation for sedimentary rocks. However, the model ignores the porosity change caused by different clay content ratio. In this study, we have applied a bimodal mixture model to soft sedimentary rock and soil formation. In the bimodal model, two types of rock are modeled by setting the porosity of sand and clay. The model shows the two theoretical curves for each type of rock, and well logging data in this study have been explained by either type in the model. The determination of the rock type in the model is important point to estimate elastic properties. |
