| Abstract | At the beginning of this century, point-receiver technology became commercially available for marine seismic applications. This technology is also now available for land seismic imaging. This method is commercialized by WesternGeco as Q-Land acquisition and processing. Different from the traditional method of source and receiver grouping in analogue data, this technology records all digital data from each single receiver, and processes these data in combination with single or grouped sources. In addition to the enhancement of source accuracy and a greater improvement in receiver sensitivity, this method enables the removal of noise and correction of static errors, which are the major obstacles in land seismic imaging, resulting in greatly enhanced 3D land image resolution. This new technology will be presented with some current data examples. |
