| Abstract | The Median Tectonic Line (MTL) active fault system is a right-lateral strike-slip fault system, extending from the Kii Peninsula to northwest Shikoku. The MTL active fault system extends not only on land, but also in the marine area. There is a clear difference in the survey method conducted for land and marine active faults. For a marine active fault survey, it is important to get acoustic profiles from the sea-bed, by the reflection method because of the difficulty in direct observation. The more detailed clarification of properties concerning marine active faults has been requested since the 2007 Noto-hanto earthquake and the 2007 Niigata-ken Chuetu-oki earthquake. Thus an extensive study of the deformation form of the quaternary deposits caused by the MTL active fault system in the Iyo-nada sea was conducted by us, by using abundant acoustic profiles. |
