| Abstract | It is important to have a complete grasp of level and scope of damages first at the scene devastated by landslides and other disasters. And we have been developing a system to detect buried vehicles that is one of damage investigations. Following the results of evaluating experiments carried out by Enokizono, et al. (2007), this is to report the development of a metal detecting system for buried vehicles. As the first step towards a complete system, considering the situation typical to the devastated area, metal detector and positioning system are attached to a power shovel, or a similar heavy-duty machinery, that is manned to search buried vehicles and do some rescue work if necessary. We have confirmed this fist stage could mostly be performed successfully. |
