| Abstract | An extension of the Gassmann-Biot consolidation theory of porous media is presented for including the hydraulic flow phenomena. The extension is such that the Darcy flow includes both the hydraulic seepage flow and the consolidation squeezed-out water. The basic equations of the new system show the mechanism of the coupling between the hydraulic flow and the ground deformation. In the case in which the hydraulic flow volume is much greater than the squeezed-out water, the coupling is simple. |
