Stability evaluation of concrete using a acoustic wave - Lab. Test -

Abstract
It is already reported that the acoustic tomography method characterized by pseudo random noise is an effective method to the high precision search for the saturated foundation. In this paper, the authors conducted the experimental measurement with the concrete blocks placed in the large-sized soil tank by this method, and examined the applicability for soundness evaluation of the buried concrete foundation. As the result, we could confirm irrespective of saturation or being un-saturated that the propagation characteristics of acoustic wave, such as velocity and amplitude, changed by existence of a crack. Therefore, the authors could verify that the crack situation inside the concrete foundation buried in the unsaturated ground will be able to be evaluated by the acoustic tomography method characterized by pseudo random noise.
