| Abstract | The accuracy of a surface-wave method performed on a top of levee has been examined by in-situ S-wave velocity measurements during levee excavation. The investigation site is Chikuma-gawa River in Nagano Prefecture. The surface-wave method was carried out before excavation at the top of levee and in-situ S-wave velocity measurements were carried out during the excavation. An S-wave refraction method and the surface-wave method were used for in-situ measurements. Generally, the result of examination shows the reliability of the surface-wave method. The result of in-situ S-wave velocity measurements also shows S-wave velocity down to the depth of 2 to 3m is slowed down due to the decrease of overburden pressure or construction vibration. |
