Effects of random fluctuation of subsurface structure on earthquake ground motion

Abstract
In order to evaluate effects of random velocity fluctuation on site amplification, we characterize statistical properties of random velocity fluctuation of PS-logging data around Niigata area. Then, we combined S-wave velocity structure derived from microtremor array exploration with random velocity fluctuation considering characteristics of statistical properties derived from this study. Finally we demonstrated that the characteristic of site amplification calculated from the combined S-wave velocity structure was in a better agreement with the observed one.
