| Abstract | A Heavy damage was experienced in Monzen-machi, Wajima city during the 2007 Noto-Hanto earthquake with an Mj of 6.9. Many old wooden houses were heavily collapsed in the village in Monzen-machi. The area is located along the river sandwiched by mountains in the northern and southern ends with a width of 1 to 2 km. Yamanaka et al (2007) indicated strong site amplifications in the village from aftershock observations of the earthquake. We conducted microtremor array explorations in the damaged areas, including the Monzan-machi, to know S-wave velocity structure. The predominant period estimated from aftershock records are in a good agreement with those of theoretical amplification expected from the S-wave profiles. |
